‘O Parto

Over the threshold
Cruel and magnificent
Frozen in motion

‘O PARTO is a set of 3 sculptures that represent an event; birth - common and each time extraordinary. In this work raw cuts and rough surfaces, visible sutures and a deliberately curt modeling do not allow for procrastination to the evocative might of the theme.

Maintaining the same pose for all sculptures, with variations in size and formal solutions, I searched for strength and independence for each one in the overall scheme of the project. The anatomies just mentioned, make sense as a whole; even if forced in the postures; as well as having them turned upside down. This allowed me to highlight the head of the newborn, and convey the expulsive effort that occurs during childbirth.
