Fragile and resistent are the extremes of the same state: a condition of balance.

When this balance gives way, even the strongest thing breaks.

A tongue, an ethnic group, a habitat, a mountain can all be fragile.

The water of a small lake: habitat within habitat, balance within balance.

A porcelain bark — the imprint of raw earth upon the body of a fallen tree, hardened by fire, barely resting on the surface of the water — the form of the Ark.
