Mistèri
Sicilian Pece stone, unique of its kind, was extracted from the depths of the earth, until the recent past, to obtain a precious sap: bitumen.
Stone and bodies capable of changing, giving up part of their lives; fluids and sweat, in the hard practice of every day: work, craft, 'u mistèri, in the Sicilian dialect. ‘u ‘misteri, nell’idioma siciliano.
Like sacred relics of ancient passions, fragments of quarried stone and black shrouds remain as witnesses and memories of vanished mistèri, of human toil and the greatness of nature.
